Compressed Air Drying in Hazardous Areas

A source of dry, clean compressed air is essential for the smooth operation of many industrial processes located in hazardous areas. Continuously monitoring the dew point of the compressed air avoids the risk of damage to equipment through excess moisture condensing or from corrosion over time.

Although it is possible to compress the air in a non-hazardous location and pipe it to the hazardous area, the airlines become contaminated with moisture and additional drying is needed closer to the point of use. Membrane dryers can be operated safely in hazardous areas and – together with suitable dew-point transmitter to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
